We are very blessed to be expecting our fourth baby this summer and grateful for our lovely home that we were more than happy to make our family of six nestle in the best way possible. And we were really happy that our kids felt excitement that sharing rooms was the only option.
We designed this room around a print that hung in my husband's room 30 years ago of a popular painting from The San Francisco Zoo. We had to also consider this room would be home to 2 little boys and 1 young lady...what to do? We went with a fun, vibrant, and colorful palette of primary colors. The final touches showcased all of the kids' interests and loves, and we used plenty of easily accessible storage space in order to make it easy for the little ones to keep their spaces clean.
Everything in the room is cute but, more important, safe. We earthquake strapped all furniture down and kept any surface cushioned with safety pads, so it's nice to know the kids can play like monkeys in there and be safe. There is nothing better than peeking in there at night and hearing all of them breathe!

Very cute. Love the green wall color..
It's cute but that colour of green makes my skin crawl. I think it would have been better with it on just one wall in the room and the rest is a more neutral, my eyes don't bleed, colour.
But I'm not a kid so I'm sure they love it :)
I like everything but the green. There's just too much of it. It makes my eyes hurt!
Cute room but the wall color is a bit too much.
I want to like this --- it's sweet and fun and I like the idea of shared rooms and the blue crib is just the cutest!
But the green is too much --- it's like drowning in astroturf.
I LOVE the green! Especially with the red beds and blue crib.
Your kids are going to love growing up in such a cheerful room. It looks great.
I LOVE this room :) but I super love paint with color! my boys have a green room with alternating blue walls :)
Thank you to everyone for your kind words....we love the room but mostly love to see all the kids in it together. I know the green is BRIGHT and at first I was also a bit skeptical...but it actually turned out pretty great..it's the perfect compromise color for a boy/girl room..cheerful..and wacky..much like our family. I think what helps it is that an entire side of the room is all closet so it is not as overwhelming in person as you might imagine. :) But thanks again..I am grateful for everyones feedback..and very honored to be featured on one of my FAVORITE websites ever!!!!
PS...so cool it happened today...because it's my BIRTHDAY! :)
I love the color, I once had a portion of my living room painted a similar hue and it was great by natural or bulb light. The bumble bees are wonderful!
Happy Birthday Maria!
I love it - would have thought it fabulous as a kid too
Happy Birthday!
I LOVE it. It's like a sucker punch of citrusy happiness. :)
I just love red and green together. They get a bad rap as being reserved for "christmas colors" but look nice together year round! Great bold look :)
so playful and cute. I love it!!
How did you do the IMAGINE letters? Looks great!
The IMAGINE letters I did with tiny nails and embroidery string. I freehanded the letters because I didnt want them to be perfect. Use a soft lead pencil...easier to erase afterwards. I'm glad you liked it! :)
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gorgeous and fun!
Looks like a perfectly pulled-together showroom, but still a room that's meant to be used and played in.
Adorable! You can go bold in a kid's room. Looks like it worked.
Where did the animal cube bins come from?
You are all so awesome...THANKS! The animal cubes came from the one and only...TARGET!
Can I ask where you got the beds? We will be transforming a nursery into a boy's bedroom and want beds that don't take up alot of space. Thanks.
Hi N Chardiet...the beds are from Ikea...and that is the exact reason we chose them....they are cute, simple, and take up very little space....also I love how low they are to the ground.
Love the room, where did you find the red metal bookshelf?
