Last week we took a peek at Orla Kiely's Garden Retreat and this week, I have Vicki Conran's garden retreat to show you. Vicki's retreat is the home of a book binder and was interestingly stocked with all the makings of books - but really, the whole things just strikes me as THE perfect office. The book binder's retreat was full of interesting materials, papers, textiles and beautiful hand tools as well as a selection of books in varying stages of binding and casing. The drafting/work table was nestled between two of the coolest sheving units I have seen in a while.
I am quite sure that I would never have bought them from the the Conran website, as they simply don't appeal in the product image, but here in the garden retreat, they look so much prettier - so much so that I am thinking of trying to fashion my own version. The combination of wood tones, bright white and dark green seems so fresh as does the idea of placing a drafting drawer beneath a more standard Parsons table. It looks like one piece when it isn't and it makes great use of the space.
From the black and white exterior to the dark green and white interior, I can easily imagine work days full of writing with the doors thrown open to the great outdoors.
The Conran Shop, inspired by the sheds at The Chelsea Flower Show, has created some additional shed spaces in their stores. I particularly like this one.
