- Inspiration for my palette:
- I love color, so I definitely need no inspiration to go all out. Since this is a dressing room, I wanted something glamorous and fun. I searched for affordable damask wallpaper and I found this one in a great color. I chose the green paint as it's compliment and I'm really happy with the contrast. The light blue ceiling was an afterthought.
- Colors used in my room
- The wallpaper is a printed damask pattern in a wine color. The green is Benjamin Moore Newt Green. The ceiling is Benjamin Moore Ice Blue.
- Tips for using color successfully
- As long as you stay within the same tonal range, you're usually fine. Jewel tones look great with other jewel tones, brights with other brights. I'm also a big fan of looking for an inspiration piece if you're stuck on a scheme. If you find something you love - a throw pillow, blouse, etc. - then you've got a pallet that already is proven to work. Just pick your colors right out of it.

Love it. This is exactly where you should have all these feminine, dramatic, over the top touches: in your dressing room. So fun.
I voted for this even before I noticed we are from the same town.. Very proud of a fellow ronkonkomaniac :)
This room is so SEXY, I just love the bright colors. It's EXCITING and this lady is so very talented!!!
Vickiann here.
Jasminels, that was exactly my thought. I wouldn't do this in the rest of my house, but this room was my chance to have some fun.
WabiSabi, Ronkonkomaniac! I love it! I'm new to the area, but it sounds like I'll fit in.
Marilyn, thank you for the compliment!
Totally awesome. This is one of the only rooms I've voted for so far this year. Absolutely love the "go big or go home" attitude about it.
Great room -- it reminds me that I probably have a smaller wardrobe than any other AT'er. I couldn't fill a quarter of this, which my family reminds me regularly is NOT a good thing.

I wish I had a dressing room and I wish it looked like this. Very nice!
You had me at "closet".
Great job on the color, layout and finishing touches.
I agree with Jasminels entirely! Generally, I like very clean and contemporary design, but I've always said that when I have a powder room one day (it's only a matter of time), it will be my excuse to display my hidden affinity for girlish, over the top femininity. Glitter and ruffles, here I come!
Thank you all for the kind comments. I had a lot of fun with this room. It makes me happy that you like it too :)

* 'Tis true.
If you're going to insult me, you should at least be grammatically correct about it.
Love!!!
