We also live in a victorian era house, and the details are amazing - the inside hinges on the door of our hall closet are beautifully detailed with metal designs, but it's something that you would only see when opening the closet door.

we have some great original hardware in our victorian. though it's been painted over, it's still amazing. my pride and joy is our manual-twist doorbell! for better or for worse, our neighbor kids love turning it, too!
