My design style is constantly evolving as a result of all the inspiration I get on a daily basis — sometimes I love modern, sometimes vintage, and other times I surprise myself with my attraction to traditional decor. Currently, I can't get enough of vintage and found objects like those from an acupuncture clinic. It's no surprise that I found myself vintage cameras and collected pieces.
The home belongs to photographer Mike Mabes, whose work takes him around the world — from Ecuador to Poland. The same vintage charm that is seen through his photography is also felt in his home.

White Enamel Four-P...
beautiful fotos of an interesting place and I love the patina of all the 'found' objects - but the place looks soooo dirty and dusty. Makes my nose itch touring through... - and not one comfy piece for furniture (beds, chairs, sofa).
but the wood & details are appealing... and you haven't invited me over the flop about and complain - so I'll hush my mush about it.
It's not so much that it's dirty, just that it's old. I don't see a speck of cooking crust on the stove, the sink is gleaming, and the leaves on the plants are shining.
Love love love how this place OOZES charm! It's adorable and looks almost magical in some spots!
I also think we're probably all spoiled to all the MCM that's been bouncing around lately, all square lines and high-polish.
Toothpaste flecks on the bathroom sink hardware, and the wall behind. Grimy fingerprint marks on the doors. A 1920s dresser in dire need of Howard Feed-n-Wax. End result: Too dirty for me to appreciate.
He's got some interesting things...but what struck me most were his gorgeous eyes!
Very dirty place. And he really needs to take off that scarf.
I don't think it's the apartment that so many of you guys don't like, I think it's the owner. He seems a little self obsessed. I realize that a person is a part and a product of their environment, but maybe only one pic of his beautiful mug at the end would have been enough.
I agree this place looks a bit on the dingy side. I think there is a definitely difference between being rustic/antique without being too....old. I love many of the pieces here, but the apartment itself is so dark that it makes those pieces struggle to stand out.
That brick could use a little elbow grease. His eyebrows could use a little attention as well.
I didn't realize some people color coordinate their books until coming to AT and least of all this Mabes fellow. Overall very interesting and charming. It looks old, not dirty, but not comfortable either. I would have fun touring his apartment and oh-ing and aw-ing in admiration, not ah-ing in relaxing.
Too...much...stuff...and....knick-knacks.....phew! This place is cool and eclectic, but it makes me tired and itchy just thinking about all the dust and cleaning it needs. I agree with some of the above comments and also that a few cool vintage things are awesome in a home, but too many is just overkill and takes away from their 'specialness'. ;P Love the color scheme of the place though!
Marcia!
Thank you so much for sharing this photo set with the AT readers! I'm beyond thrilled to contribute to your site and hopefully inspire people or at least show them another perspective to living.
Thank you Again!

@ansema--Trying so hard to be different? Different from what? You?
I just want to know how big this place is. Seems sprawling.
Yikes! I can smell the soot thru my computer. Is this grunge living? Looks like he just picked up everything he could find on the street. And the hanging dead flowers don't do it for me either. He might be a great photographer, but he's a horrible interior decorator.
I'm just saying....
So much dislike!
It isn't a sterile, impersonal interior. I love it. Tons of character, great use of color. This apartment has an incredible feel to it.
