I swoon over the coffee table in Photo 1. The bright colors on the cedar shaving satchel in Photo 4 are very current. And the red, new-in-box cassette recorder in Photo 3 is very tempting. An added bonus is that items 4 and 5 are eco-friendly.

Cassette tapes have gone the way of eight tracks, obsolete with the march of time, but I feel nostalgia every time I see one. As a throwback to old technology, here are five fun objects-of-desire inspired by cassette tapes. May they rest in peace!

Shaw's Original Fir...
As someone born in the 90s, I do not feel at all deprived for not having developed a nostalgia for cassettes. The only times I've thought they were cute were when people embedded the Mixpod playlist in the shape of a cassette to their Tumbrl or other page. I do sorta think colorful decals are fun, though.
There's something about these that I find really grating and sad, especially that second one (over the sofa). It's both an overdose of cheap irony and a substitute for displaying any kind of personal character.
I browse retailer photos of fake lofts like everyone else, and enjoy the furniture or layouts, but I don't actually want to live in the fake loft, surrounded by resin birds and owls.
Cool post, thanks! Guess I have fond memories of the '80s and appreciate "cheap irony."
You and me both! This does make me feel nostalgic, and I think those designs are super cute. That table is killing me!
Well yes, I believe your nostalgia is exactly what they are banking on.
The cassette tape table is so cool! We shared the photo on our site:
