Name: Felix (7 months)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
A little over a year ago we discovered.... that we were going to be three!!! So we set out to make this happy little nursery. Our challenge was to make it happen using things we had and get it done on a small budget...oh, and we started about a month before the baby was due!
On December 6th, our sweet boy, Felix David, was born. We named him after our grandfathers. His room, like his name, is filled with meaning and a lot of love. Creating it together made us so happy and watching Felix enjoy it is the best feeling! We hope you like it too!
Source List:
• Inspiration Point: The best place to start! I found the most beautiful granny square afghan I have ever seen, from a lovely friend. The colors are amazing!
• Paint: Sherwin Williams
• Rug: orange shag, one of the best decisions ever!
• Furniture: We used Phil's furniture from his childhood. It is sturdy, well made furniture and I love that we could reuse it. We painted it glossy white and lime green.
• Rocking Chair: Poang chair, we got on craigslist for a steal
• Crib: this was the only piece of furniture we purchased new from Ikea. The modern design was just right and it did not overwhelm our small space.
• Bedding & Mobiles: made by Poppy & Bean (that's me!)
• Lamps: used existing lamps & recovered our old lampshades with some funky fabric
• Art: one of my best friends surprised us with her amazing original artwork. We will treasure these forever!
• Vintage toys: these were Phil's when he was little!
• Pegboard hippo: was from my Dad's nursery, over 50 years old!
• Frog Shoe Caddy: was found at a thrift store for $2 and I filled it with all Phil's baby shoes
• Vintage fabric: with happy little animals, I purchased from In with the Old at the Clover Market. It became the curtains and cushion for a mini mid century chair we picked up at a thrift store.
Thanks Phil & Colleen! Readers, Colleen also has a vintage-focused Etsy store, Poppy & Bean for you to check out.

This is one of the coolest nurseries ever! I love the bright colors and old toys.
I LOVE THIS! this totally grooves with my house! Felix is a lucky boy :)
I don't usually comment much, but this merited an exception. I LOVE it.
Such a fun space!
Such a fun space!
This is glorious! You guys hit the "vintage" look right on the head! I like that it's not the "trendy vintage" look with a bunch of old collections, but actual items that are used...it's "functional vintage!"
I am in love with the dresser/changing table.
Great colors. "Wild child" tee brought a giggle.
Just a really fun room.
I love this room, and I covet that dresser. This looks like a happy place!
So lovely! Thanks for sharing!
I think this is adorable, and I also love that it looks like a room in which a real child actually lives--it's not just a showcase.
amazing. love love. fun and happy. such a great idea. will have to remember this if we ever move into a home with orange carpet! didnt even notice the carpet at first. major props for color combos!!!!
Fresh!
Okay Colleen, I am soooo happy you shared this with me. It's wonderful and I have many friends who will enjoy this site. The room reflects your personality so well... no wonder Felix is always so happy... like sunshine! Poppy and Seed is fantastic as well... a contemporary artisan style and beautifully done.
Pass the word everyone!

This space is so cheerful and adorable. Love it!
And FINALLY, a baby's room with COLOURS! I'm really sad about the grey-and-white nursey trends that I've been seeing lately. Colour stimulates mental, visual, and creative development in babies and small children... kids need lots of colourful stimulation (not bare, bland, sterile looking spaces to stare at,) and these folks have hit the nail on the head.
Anyone who can pull off that color orange carpet in a room deserved a big gold star.
Thank you so much everyone!! And thank you to Apartment Therapy for featuring us, what an honor:) He really does loves all the colors and texture and it is our favorite place to hang too! Thanks again for all the sweet comments, for this crafty Mom it was really heart warming xoxo
