Finally a truly functional way to utilize cool vintage suitcases. Dominic "Mr. Simo," a self-proclaimed "audio nut" from the Bay Area has been making portable music machines since 2000. By upcycling these display-worthy relics, Mr. Simo gives them a new lease on life by turning them into portable "BoomCases" with audio input for your iPhone, iPod or any other device with a headphone jack.

Treehugger reports, "these cases will last up to 7+ hours on a single charge (charger built in). In addition to running on batteries, The BoomCase can also be plugged in when the party goes inside. To save on weight, you can opt for a plug-in only version."

With fun names like Baby Red, Cream Machine and Thump Bot, it's easy to get enamored with one of these little guys and want to bring it home. See more here.
