When selecting artwork for your baby's space, advertisements may not be something you'd consider. But these vintage travel posters are so beautiful that we can't help feeling transported when we look at them. The colorful illustrations, sometimes sweet and sometimes bold, mixed with striking typefaces have us yearning to take a train to a bustling urban locale, a cruise to an exotic island, or a camel ride across the desert.
You could commemorate the birthplace of your child, the country your relatives came from, a favorite summer road trip destination, or a fantasy vacation that you're saving up for. What a beautiful way to spark your child's curiosity about the world. Originals go for thousands, but we've rounded up a few inexpensive prints from large, online poster shops that really caught our eye.

Ordering the India poster right meow!
Love these! I'm a big fan of the work of David Klein (see Africa and India)... he also did the illustrations for the Orbitz ad campaign back in 2000. So cool to that they hired the original artist rather than having someone else imitate his style.
Swedie, thanks for mentioning the Orbitz ads! I loved those "Visit Planet Earth" designs, the one with the giraffes especially, but I didn't know who designed them. Thanks!
Love the India poster too; came across it a month ago, and meant to find an online source. Thanks!
I bought that Chicago poster for my dad (who is from Chicago) in New Orleans earlier this year. ;D It would be cute to collect these as insentive to visit but it actually inspires me to create my own for every cool landmark we take the kid to.
Another great source is http://www.postercorner.com/ that has multiple size options and reasonable pricing (from $24 for 11x15 to $148 for 38x52).
They're fabulous.
I LOVE these David Klein ones (and I agree that it was great of Orbitz to hire him instead of just imitating his style!)... He caught my eye when I was in grad school studying graphic design history. I even researched him and wrote a post on him for my art history blog. You can see it (and links to more of his work) here if you are interested:
