We had at least a dozen different colors on the wall of the nursery, in our (rented) turn-of-the-century farmhouse in Maine. Though we were nervous that painting our new baby girl's room pink meant that she would never become a scientist, more modern colors just didn't feel right with the wide knotty pine floors and the chair rail we installed to separate color.
This room is still a work-in-progress, but we feel like we have gotten a good start for someone who's only a few weeks old. As freelancers, the furnishings in this room reflect the variable paychecks we receive from week to week. Bigger clients mean we can spring for the Pottery Barn crib, while leaner weeks mean shelving from Ikea. The rocking chair belonged to my wife's grandfather, and the antique metal horse was mine when I was a little boy.

beautiful, where did you get the bumper from?
Thank you! The crib bumper is from The Land of Nod.
Love the rug!
Delightful! I loved that you dared to jeopardize your daughter's future in science by choosing pink (that one cracked me up!), because the result is just lovely.
I really like the credenza you're using as a changing station and the prints over the cube shelves. Most of this room's furniture has potential to stay in your family for a long time, that's very wise of you. In our case we inherited some baby room furniture from inlaws, so my daughter's furniture is (hopefully) going to be out of sight in a few years down the road.
The book collection seems very well curated. Maybe in a year or so you're going to have new shelves installed closer to the floor, so she can reach them.
In all, thank you for sharing your daughter's room! It's really pretty, and I'm happy for the girl who lives surrounded by so much beauty.
That room is huge! It's bigger than the room that we'll be sharing with our infant in a few months. Maybe it's the apartment dweller in me but it would look less sparse with a small sofa or daybed for guests.
Love this room! The rug on the floor is SO beautiful and it will never go out of style--it will be perfectly at home in her living room someday--or yours. The two tone of pink are very sophisticated. The whole thing is a win, in my view.
