The organizer comes in fire engine red, glossy black, and pure white (the most mod choice, we think).

It kills me to think that I had one of these as a kid. It was very underappreciated at the time, along with the mushroom lamp, the Saarinen table and chairs. . . Silly, silly me.
We have a white one one in our studio/den just for decor. We don't put anything in it and it's mounted up on a white wall, making it look like little puffy clouds. :)
There's also a chrome special edition version, available for a MERE US$785.00...
Hmmm. A junk-drawer on the wall?
i LOVE my wall-all! i have the exact same one in the same color. we use it in the office to store just about everything.
I love the idea of this. But in reality, I think I'd go a bit nuts trying to figure out exactly which things should go in which pockets.
it's perfect for next to the computer table for pens and a tissue box - I think this has to be diy-ed. That price tag demands it!
Is it patented?
I'm surprised Ikea hasn't made a cheapie version for $50.
I came across this a while ago ( http://www.ecohousewares.com/docs/acc_mio_graidwallpockets.html ). Not quite as functional, but a lot cheaper!
laurie, I like that! 135 lbs of felt? Must be a typo.
I've always loved the Vitra one in white - I agree tho, that it can easily look like a junk drawer on the wall and I probably would waste valuable time carefully curating it's contents with white pencils and Lucite desk accessories a la Domino.
To me, the things that make these great are they aren't really "living" untill you put your junk in them.
I love mine and I got it on ebay for only $75. It's in a weird orange-tan color...so it may be a knock-off. I still love it!
my mom had a red one.....my dad got it for her at a home dec show for $35.00....now my sister has it.....boy, who would have known!
I think it is a ridiculous amount of money to spend for a storage rack.
my aunt bought these up when they came out in '69 - she gave one to my parents, her sister and my grandma. we still have and use them all. you'd never know they were 40 years old!
This is the closest I've seen, and it only costs $25. Besides the bright orange, it also comes a more neutral palette of dark brown, taupe, and cream. http://www.organize.com/wall-organizer-carrot.html .
While I love the functionality of the uten.silo, I'm hesitant about displaying my "junk" in such an obvious fashion. I'd stick it behind a door, rather than putting it on a wall.
Another blogger had a great idea to copy uten.silo using an inexpensive magnet board, magnetic boxes and clips, all from IKEA. All the items were spray-painted with a single coat of high-gloss white paint, and -- voila! -- a much cheaper version of uten.silo.
