VOK Home Theater Chimney System

We're always trying to advise people from placing their flat panel up above their fireplace for both ergonomic and picture quality issues (though we're fond of the idea of using an unused fireplace for viewing, this can pose ergonomic issues too). But taking a look at German company VOK's home theater chimney system, it looks like this hefty price setup is fairly well thought out, appointed with an integrated Sharp LCD display (32"-52"), BOSE home theater audio/video system, and an optional Internet via PC, all in a stylish oak finish fireplace form that hides away in various modes....

The Multimedia Fireplace comes in S, M, L or XL configurations with the option for Birch, rosewood and other wood finishes:

  • Version S: 244x185cm 80 cm width 32 "or 37" BOSE 3.2.1 V2.1 23,800 EUR
  • Version M: 268x198cm 100 cm width 37 "or 42" BOSE 3.2.1 V2.1 25,500 EUR
  • Version L: 308x202cm 120 cm width 42 "or 46" BOSE 3.2.1 V2.1 27,800 EUR
  • XL version: 368x206cm 150 cm width 46 "or 52" BOSE 3.2.1 V2.1 31,500 EUR

Personally we love the execution, but the price for the components included (BOSE?) for a $31k home theater solution. We give the credit for positioning the LCD display closer to eye level though, but that's the least they could do considering the premium price tag.
