When we were teenagers, our bedding consisted of a plain purple and white comforter our mother purchased for us. When we happened to find a plain black comforter, we thought we had hit the jackpot with what we considered to be the ultimate chic bedding. Nowadays, teens have more and more choices that appeal to their design, decorative and DIY sensibilities. Wake Up Frankie is one of them.
Featuring lines with names like Goth Glam, Frankie No. 5, Emma Goes to Prom, Camo Glamo, Bollywood 2 and Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, Wake Up Frankie , with its tagline "Bedding For Your Crib", is a big hit amongst the MTV crowd. Wake Up Frankie sells pillow shams, bedskirts, window treatments as well as rugs, lamps and other room accessories.
We like that Wake Up Frankie offers design ideas and decorating advice on their Web site and will mail swatches, all to give your teens more independence in pulling their room's look together by themselves.
And taking into consideration that teens may not be up to par on the names of bedding and room items, the Wake Up Frankie Web site answers questions we may take for granted but young decorators may not know, like "What is a Duvet?" or "What is a Valance?"
What we really admire, however, is that Wake Up Frankie is the brainchild of a teen in Naperville, Illinois who was frustrated by the lack of edgy teen bedding so she started sewing and selling her own line.
