Stenciled walls are increasingly popular features in nurseries and kids' rooms: they are cheap, easy to create, relatively easy to remove (just re-paint), and add a touch of fun. But...what if you can't paint? Well, Emily, who decorated this room for her daughter Pippi, had the perfect solution: decals!
To achieve a full stencil effect, stick to a single color
for all of your decals. Also, since most stencils are applied systematically across a wall, measure out a grid
where each decal is going to be applied before you stick them down.
Here are a few sources for decals that will, with careful placement, give a stencil effect:
1. Emily's wall decals come from Look Sugar. They are $34.00 for a set of 36 dots, and are available in 44 different colors
2. Ferm Living
, a source of so much awesomeness, sell this set of rain drop decals in neon pink or black for EUR 17.50.
3. You might need to get a few sets of these Keith Haring Dogs to cover a wall, but the final product would be totally worth it! $18.00 for 3 from Whatisblik.com
4. And don't forget plus signs! Modern abstract cool. Available in a set of 50, with 24 different color options from Urban Walls
5. Wall decal company Mur
are experts in decals for patterned effects. They sell a southwest-style decal, polka dots, stripes, and these uber-cute mini triangles, $25 for a set of 45, available in 12 colors.
