Where to place the tv is one of the biggest hurdles to jump over when decorating a room. Not only do you have to take cable hookups into consideration, you also have to be very aware of height. No one wants to pull a muscle in their neck trying to watch tv in your home.

The trick to this is to never use the TV's speakers. Inbuilt tv speakers are trash. They have horrible levels and force you to listen at a much louder volume to be audible. A cheap stereo setup will sound and perform infinitely better.
Trish, in my condo building we're not allowed to mount speakers (or TVs with speakers) on shared walls. You might want to look into the rules of your building to see if something can be done about your problem.
