What do you get when you cross manga and zakka? Ami Suma's wall paintings. Somehow she's managed to make her creations friendly and edgy at the same time.
As a young girl Ami loved to draw and she loved rearranging her room. She always hated the plastic-like wallpaper common in Japanese homes and dreamed of something better. Now as an artist she believes a kid's bedroom should be a "sanctuary for children to grow happily" and she hopes that her wall paintings will stimulate kids' imaginations.
If you live in or near New York City and are interested in adding an Ami Suma painting to your home, she's happy to talk with you about your ideas. You can read more about her process and see additional photos at her website.
