The fixation with graphic type has led from single letters and words to another French home decorating trend, the blown-up wall quotation. This particularly lovely and oblique example is a novel fragment on the living room wall of Clorinde Méry, which was featured in Marie Claire Maison. But sticker manufacturers have also gotten into the act, proposing both stock quotes and pithy phrases to fill up the blank walls of the house...

Wall stickers from designers Marion Haslé and Marie-Astrid Joucla's L’Atelier Des Pieds Des ailes, above and below...

This butterfly wall quote from Jules Renard is a vinyl sticker that can be personalized in a number of colors and is available here.
Or you can write or quote your own favorite bit of text and make customized wall sticker quotes using Wall Design's capital letters in a choice of 30 colors.

rOUND TABLE FROM THE FIRST PIcTURE IS GREAT...
Ugh. Pithy sayings on needlepoint cushions were bad enough.
Kind of makes the room look like an exhibit hall.
Can anyone translate? I stopped taking French long, long ago.
I want to do this on a bathroom wall (a quote about water), but I want to use stencils and paint. Those stickers get very spendy very quickly.
OMG! I think it's a cool idea, although something I'd never do, but that Jules Renard quote makes me want to blind myself with scissors!
In order: "Violette left New York in the late afternoon on the 9th of December. Snowflakes began to fall."
"Taste buds get ready!" (I think... anyone?)
"Be wary of dreams: they always come true"
"Loads of happiness"
And the Renard quote:
"BUTTERFLY: a folded love letter looking for the flower's address"
arggh
The last one says, simply, "garden".
Thank you Jaze! I'm proud to say I knew Jardin before :) Some of the others came back to me after your translation!
do they have text in other languages? Mandarin? Korean? Japanese?
I beautiful idea but something I think might be harder to pull of than it looks. I just keep thinking about those stupid plaques people buy with the flowers and butteflies. Blegh. I've spent years avoiding my grandmother's gifts of verse that she thought was such lovely decoration.
I guess as long as it doesn't say something stupid like, "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Yes...I've seen people decorate their houses with this. *shudders*
^^ (Adding on to last post)
I like the single word idea better. Jardin and such.
Yuck.
There is nothing wrong with butterflies! My little girl loves them. We used DecoSticks butterfly wall stickers.
They even do crystal butterfly crystal stickers too for your glam little princess!
