Wall-Mounted Dish Rack

A dish rack is a necessity in most kitchens. But what if you don't have much counter space to devote to one? Well, if you've got $199 to spare, Williams-Sonoma may have the solution for you: a wall-mounted dish rack that folds up when not in use.

According to the product description: "The two hinged shelves will hold up to 16 plates or soup bowls with eight hooks for cups and mugs." When folded, it's just 2-3/4" deep.

Situating the rack above a sink is ideal. But, if you're like us and have a window above your sink, mounting it to an adjacent spot could work as well — as long as there's something underneath to catch any drips. (We love Design*Sponge's idea of putting an attractive tray underneath the rack.)

But what if your open mounting spot above the sink is partially above the sink and above a sliver of counter? No tray will fit there...any ideas?

I love the idea of an over-the-sink dish rack for drying dishes (for people with limited counter space). But this one looks better for storing dishes - hanging mugs might collect water inside instead of drying.

When I was in Italy, they had dish drying racks right inside the cupboard. You open the doors to the cupboard and there are metal shelves that allow the water to drip from the second and first shelf to a thin plastic tray that hangs underneath the whole cabinet. It was so easy to do the dishes that way. Just wash and place in the cupboard! I kept looking to find something like that here in the US, but haven't had much luck.

Get yourself a cheap wooden dish rack saw off the legs hang on two strong hooks over the sink .... save 190 dollars.
