Balance. To pull of this look in a modern way, it is less about excess (where the drapes match the walls which match the bedding which matches the slipper chair) and more about a controlled layering of pattern. Having just one piece done in the coordinating fabric is enough to make an interesting statement while keeping the whole room from feeling overly "matchy matchy".
We think the five examples above, all from Thibaut, illustrate exactly how this can be done in a way that would work in the most up-to-date of homes:
We really love this look and are considering giving it a try at our own home - what do you think? Would you give it a go?

I think that these rooms are absolutely beautiful though they will not be eveyone's taste.
The other element that seems essential to successful execution is a counterpoint or pieces that are more contemporary or modern with clean(er) lines. Every picture has something that fits the bill -- even the sisal rug in the final picture and possibly some of the ceramics, though I can't see them well enough to know for sure. I think that the elements in all of the other pictures are quite clear.
Thanks!

Have you tried Ballard Designs?
I believe that wallpaper and matching fabric can be absolutely opulent...
I love matching wallpaper and drapes, but for some reason I find furniture with fabric matching the wallpaper not pleasing. I don't know if it's something about breaking the visual plane or what -- but the paper/drapes match is a look I've always thought of as timeless and elegant.
i believe Restoration Hardware has Louis chairs and Ethan Allen most likely too.
Oh my god! I love everything!
I love these! I have two competing wants right now: serene all-white rooms, and busy wallpapered rooms. What's up with that?
