At last! The perfect woodburning stove to warm my someday-dream home. Of course, the stove isn't in production quite yet, but then neither is my dream home...

This ruggedly adorable stove won Wallpaper* Magazine's award for Best Domestic Design, and I couldn't agree more. With a concrete base (to store my chopped firewood after I learn to chop firewood) and a cast-iron stove above (but like a new, even better kind of cast-iron), this looks like it would last forever & ever. And you will even be able to boil a kettle of water on top! So, so smart. I could spend a lot of winters huddled up next to this cutie with endless scones and cups of tea, a stack of English countryside novels at my feet.
There's no approximate production date given, but I like to imagine these stoves will be available by November 2011, for....$100. Yes, that would be dreamy.
Tomorrow: my other (and perhaps slightly more obtainable) favorite Wallpaper* Design Award winner!

agreed. if this turns out to be a real product, it will definitely go on my list. a fireplace...without the fireplace!
although, i can't help but wonder..where does the smoke go?
Exactly - what happens to the smoke?
"The concrete base can store wood for the cast-iron stove above, while the smoke outlet (to be attached to a flue) is at the back so the flat top can be used to warm dishes or boil a kettle."
We can all just drill holes in our walls and install flues, or hang some metal flue piping out the nearest window. How simple and modern!
I'd definitely get one for the patio or back yard, but I wonder how the concrete holds up against the heat retained by the cast iron?
