So many people have wasted space under their stairs. Storage is a great solution, but when you are short on space all over your home a half bath is an excellent thing to tuck under the stairs.
Half bathrooms don't need much room, especially since you sit down in half of the space. By converting the forgotten space under the stairs you can not only add value to your home but also a very useful room! Hidden and unexpected, this adds a touch of whimsy and fun to a home that is short on floor space.

Wow!
This has been a feature in almost every old Victorian house I've lived in. I've also seen that area used as a closet, which I'm not as fond of because of the weird wedge shape.
I can relate to ShellyIN! I grew up in a 1897 house with a powder room under the front stairs (back stairs opened into kitchen for servants). However, all of our neighbors had the exact same floor plan and they used theirs as a very deep closet.
I know that in some areas, modern building codes have made doing this an issue - something about required ceiling height over the toilet, if I recall. I remember seeing an episode of some show on HGTV where the people trying to remodel their older home couldn't put a bathroom under the stairs like they planned because of building code issues.
I just do not know if I am feeling that. IT just seems so "out in the open". (Yes I see the awesome double doors- I like that feature!) but for a room who's only purpose is to use the potty- it is so exposed :(
Does anyone know the measurements to this bathroom? We are remodeling and deciding weather to put the sink outside the SMALL half-bath upstairs for lack of room.
Does anyone know what brand/model the sink is in this bathroom? We can't find one anywhere and have an exact bathroom space that we're re-doing under our stairs.
I agree please please help on the brand or model of the sink. I have been searching everywhere. I desperately want that sink for our half bath.
