I'm all for DIY but I've never taken on a project as big as gutting a kitchen or bathroom. The mere thought of it gives me symptoms similar to a panic attack! Luckily, there are souls out in the blogosphere who are much more adventurous and I can live vicariously through them.
Ashley and Greg, over at 7th House on the Left have been gradually renovating their house and they're blogging about it every inch of the way. I'm particularly taken by their hall bathroom renovation. As you can see from the before photo above, the old bathroom was small and dated. But that's nothing these two handy homeowners can't fix.

I find the photo of the gutted bathroom both inspiring and terrifying! It's inspiring to see how the couple have reconfigured the small space to make it more usable (thanks to the extra space gained from knocking out a linen closet). But it's terrifying to think of the long road ahead. Again, thanks to the brave souls of the blogosphere for being more courageous than I.

Ashley and Greg have been making slow progress on this bathroom project, as you can see in the above photo. It's hard to believe that small, dated bathroom has been transformed into this larger, luxurious space. I'm practically chomping at the bit to see the final finished project.
You can follow the progress of this full bathroom rehab at 7th House on the Left: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5.

Looks like a hotel to me, but hopefully they will personalize it, add some color, etc. Yea, too many identical tiles.
I actually gasped. Gorgeous.
Beautiful!!! Can't wait to see it when it's done!
I agree that I would not have chosen the same tile for the floor and the bathroom, to each their own. I do LOVE the vanity, though. The sinks are way cool too!
LOVE! Can't wait to see the finished product.
LOVE the understated palette. Looks as good as any spa I've ever been to! Taking reservations?
I've never heard of them so I took a look at their site... Um, wow. Are they YoungHouseLove.com clones, or is it all a coincidence? (First home, a young couple with a lap dog, in Richmond, etc.) I mean, YHL also has a baby now and are on their second house, but reading 7th's "about" page sure made me think of YHL.
Stunning! It looks like a boutique hotel, but in a good way. I know you'll be adding your own personal touches... it looks like the picture was taken right after completion (there isn't even a shower curtain yet) so I would love to see another "after" photo.
I plan to gut my one and only teeny tiny bathroom and renovate it soon... I have been dreaming of having the same tiles on the walls and floor. It may not be everyone's preference, but I love it and you did a great job!
you both were very brave i wouldnt attempt on my best design day so i'll let the pros handle it. i'm about to go thru the same thing almost same bathroom...i've picked the tile which is 3 colors of horn (cream, brn, blk) for the shower the blk will be the floor. the counter is recycled stone/glass in the same colors w all wht ( so excited!) modern tub and toilet and a glass sink, walls painted dior gray...i'm n masculine heaven! 8-)
not my style but a dramatic and positive transformation. bravo. too bad the floor and walls don't have more contrast between them (or were more identical).
