I love the aroma and atmosphere that candles offer. In my ideal situation, I would consistently have fresh flowers and a variety of candles giving life and warmth to my home. A couple months ago I wrote about the different types of candle waxes. Some candles are more eco-friendly than others, which opens up another discussion on an alternative to traditional candles.
My friend suggested I explore a wax candle line, Enjoy Lighting, that features 3 small LED lights in place of a flame. I was initially hesitant because of my impression of electric candles. However, after having the candle in my home and doing a little research on their candles, I definitely changed my opinion. The LED lights replicate the flickr of a real flame. Some of the candles can be set to dual brightness modes and are available with a multi-hour timer.
The real test is having a party and seeing if anyone notices that the candles are electric. I am pretty certain that with the wax exterior, melted edge and the distinct fragrance, I will have many friends convinced.

i recently bought a few scented LED pillars at Target and i love them. the peace of mind that these unattended candles won't start a fire is priceless.
Saw these at Costco last time. They do look real!
A friend of mine used some similar ones for her wedding on an antique ferry boat where real candles and flame were not allowed. With breezes, we didn't have to worry about re-lighting them. Nobody - even up close - noticed they weren't real and they looked gorgeous.
For those who have them: Do these take regular batteries, or rechargeable?
I used this in a parish for Advent candles and Christmas window candles. Definitely worth the peace of mind, and I would absolutely get them for personal use.
Sanj, I believe you could use any type of battery. I used them for every Christmas service for three years and never needed to replace the batteries so far, so the battery life is quite long.
