Modular+Green+Affordable=Way Basics. Modular shelving can be your best ally when trying to create structure and organization in a space which is a big reason we're fans of Way Basics. It doesn't hurt that their strong and sturdy cubes, shelves and desks are made from recycled paper and assemble in a jiffy with peel-away adhesive strips. It almost sounds too good to be true.Way Basics spent ten years perfecting the building block of their products - a material they call zBoard made from post-consumer recycled paper and weighs 62% less than particle board. zBoard is water resistant and boards can be held together with strong adhesive strips. We've watched several assembly videos on YouTube produced by the company, reviewers and customers and they truly are easy to put together (unlike certain Swedish products, ahem, that have brought many people to the brink of insanity not to mention couple's therapy).
Way Basics sells single cubes in two sizes and eight colors (both less than $25) which you can combine in a variety of ways or purchase two or three-shelf versions. They also sell a table base and tabletop (in either a square or rectangular size) which can be used with cube singles doubling as chairs.
If you're looking for versatile shelving and storage for children's bedrooms or playrooms, Way Basics is worth a look.

They're interesting, and affordable, but are the really sturdy? You stick them together with peel-off adhesive. How good for kids could that be?
I have one in my toddler's room and it's great. I got a bigger one, not the cubes, though. It's very sturdy, full of books.
They are really cute, but I was also worried about the stability. I was between those and the via toy boxes and went with the via because I was worried the adhesive would not be strong enough for my little climber.

Pencils - I wondered how sturdy they were too but all the reports from customers seem to agree that they are very strong.

They are very strong indeed. In my living room, I have a six foot span of cubes, 3 high in some places and they handle all my display collctibles. Since they are only water resistant, I built a platform of inverted wooden crown molding on which they sit. It was easy to match the espresso when painting the crown molding. These modulars are a godsend to ham-fisted people like me.
WAY TO GO, WayBasics!!!
Hi everyone. Thank you very much for your interest and passion for Way Basics. Indeed our zBoards are very strong and the 3M industrial adhesive is super strong. Did you know they use adhesive on aircraft wings too? Using adhesives we don't require tools or hardware, just peel, stick done!
