Westside connect! On the surface, the west side of the city of Costa Mesa can appear a little unassuming and slightly weathered. However, it's actually home to a hotbed of creative and influential talent and even new ideas in living. Last December, we blogged about a company called BetterShelter, that has created a new housing development called 1.7 Ocean. Next weekend, BetterShelter is hosting an exciting design event that hopes to bring more attention and unify this large creative energy and redevelopment of West Side Costa Mesa.
The main attraction of the event will be 4 showcase houses located inside 1.7 Ocean, created by four local Orange County interior designers. The event will also include mini-showrooms and exhibitions of local design businesses. Some of the participating businesses include Hurley, Avalon Bar, Detroit Bar, Clean House Design, Paul Frank, Urban Decay, Volcom, Ubiquity Records, Vestal, Lemonade and HAPPY magazine. There will also be a performance by The Growlers. The event will be held Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 from 5pm- 9pm. If you can't make it to the event, the showcase installation homes will remain on display through the month of July. They will also be available for purchase.
1.7 Ocean is located at 535 Bernard St. Costa Mesa (off of Harbor)
