If there's one bright side to this recession, it's that the economic downturn has made solar panels more affordable for homeowners (especially in California).
According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, there are a number of factors that are bringing the prices of solar systems down. Manufacturers are dropping prices, the economic stimulus package upped tax incentives — pair that with state incentives and "those subsidies could slash the cost of some systems in California by 50% or more."
Wow. 50% is nothing to sneeze at. And, apparently homeowners are taking advantage of the situation. According to the article, June was a record month for state solar rebate applications in the state of California.
