Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, we feel like summer has arrived and it's time to kick back a little. Some people associate the summer months with white linen or flip flops, but we think of cottage style. Laid-back and fuss-free, this look is all about comfort and lots of natural light.
If (like us) you haven't yet had the chance to escape to a summer cottage, we've rounded up a few homes to give you a virtual mini-vacation. Besides being cottages, these spaces have a few things in common—they're clean, free of clutter, and there's a lot of white in them. Fabrics and materials are basic and washable, and there's the occasional hint of beachy colors like blues and greens. Enjoy, and click through the links for more.

Love the cottage that sits back into the yard (or as it seems) just beautiful and so cozy! Looks like the perfect guest house!
The touches of blue are so calming...thanks for the idea!
#2's cute white kitchen would be just right for me. want !
i love cottage chic - i really want to decorate my craftsman apartment in that style - thanks so much for the ideas!
I just discovered the blog "the lettered cottage" (from the first picture) and love it... I'm not even particularly into cottage style (doesn't work in Israeli apt buildings! :) but I'm very inspired by Layla and Kevin's ideas.
being from rhode island, I'm a total sucker for all things nautical and sea side. That oar hanging over the bed kills me! and the little sailboat too.

#3 would be perfect for me - not a huge fan of wicker though
I just love Layla and Kevin's Coastal Cottage! The contrast of the black cabinets and white walls in the kitchen is both elegant and comfortable. And the wicker baskets on the walls - again in the kitchen - is so clever. But my favorite is the bedroom! I can only imagine sweet dreams sleeping in that room. Layla and Kevin you have great taste and style!
Oooooooh, that bedroom!!
love the second photo - i prefer eclectic and stylish to matchy-matchy
