Nothing says "yum yum" like a lingering, unwanted smell in your kitchen. Yet despite your best efforts, there are several spots that get grimy no matter what — where gunk, dried liquids, and old food combine to form the perfect storm of stink. Now that it's warming up outside, higher temps also nudge these odors out of the realm of merely annoying and into an entirely new noxious category.
This Weekend's Assignment: Clean all the places where food bits and gunk love to linger and revel in their own stink.
Trashcans & Recycling Bins: If you gag every time you open the garbage or recycling, don't just take out the trash. Take advantage of newly nice weather by taking all your cans and bins outside and giving them a good scouring. Your kitchen and bathrooms will feel ten times fresher when this task is done. If you don't have a hose or even a backyard, a bathtub or shower is a good spot to do the job.
Kitchen Sink Disposal: You use your garbage disposal throughout the day, every day. Even when diligently using a sink strainer or garbage disposal, inevitably food particles, grease, and other gross things make their way into the drain. The odor of all those lovely bits soon wafts up to greet you every time you approach the sink. Detox your drain and
