A doormat makes a first impression to visitors as well as welcomes you home every day. So what do you want your doormat to say? What vibe do you want to give off? If you want to say, "hey, I'm fun-loving!", here are some bright, quirky, and colorful mats to do the job.
I recently replaced my own doormat which was an afterthought (and looked like it) from when I first moved into my current apartment. The majority of doormats I found for sale were either staid and traditional (monograms, for instance) or a cutesy and juvenile (cats, sunflowers). So I've done the legwork for you if you're looking for something fresh and modern.

Perfect timing! I seriously spent yesterday afternoon looking for good looking doormats...unsuccesfully!
Thanks!
I'm not British, but I'm pretty sure wiping your feet on the Union Jack is a no-no
Excellent point, Stationeryfiend. (And, oddly reminiscent of last week's Queen Elizabeth rug.)
Imagine the outcry over a Stars and Stripes mat!
Personally, I prefer the tried and true recycled tire mats. If you're looking for your doormat to "say" something about you, why not "Hey, I'm into recycling!"
I had that Mona Lisa doormat a few years back. I loved it, but unfortunately, those "fade-resistant" dyes only lasted one season for me.
I'm all about cute doormats, but experience tells me that a tried and true rubber door mat is the best if you want longevity. It can be hosed off no matter what gets on it!
Being the Russian British myself, I always find the idea of the Union Jack door mat simply disrespectful. Or probably being a naturalised Briton, I'm more patriotic.
Growing up in Russia, the USSR, more precisely, we were taught to respect the symbols of your country. These mats are sold everywhere here in the UK and people wouldn't really give it one thought, but everyone tends to agree I've got a point.
Back on the subject, i like my mats really plain and unnoticeable
I picked this mat up a few years ago and it's still going strong. I do live on the third floor so it doesn't see a lot of grime. I love it.

(I don't own this picture)
I like the mountain and Union Jack one. The Union Jack is just such a well designed map from an artistic point to me. I don't find it disrespectful at all, but then again I also don't attach my patriotism and love for my country to the flag.
^not map, I meant flag.
InTheTree's, I love your fishy mat! Do you know where you bought it? Such fun colors too!
I have the piggy doormat and I got it for 9.99 at bed bath and beyond...
I still love the idea of painting your own -

Altho I'm sure AT had something to do with that...
@ ROXY72 they have the fish mat at Target
The Bespoke mat with the bike is by Danica Studio, and they have a bunch of other doormats. I thought about getting the Facet design, and am still thinking about getting the Roost or Aviary one, but I'm just not sure I even like doormats at this point, so I am sticking to the $1 Ikea mats for now.
In Vancouver BC I once found a cheeky door mat that said GO HOME. I should have bought it.
Yonella, you can find that door mat on amazon:

Does anyone know the source for the last mat in the top row?
The link won't work for me, and it would make a perfect springtime upgrade for my doorstep!
Anyone know where Canadians can purchase the Danica Studio key mat?
Hi,
That is my favorite doormat design, too. Did you ever get a response about where to get it?
Thanks,
