Father's Day has recently passed and if I were to believe all the PR pitches I received my picture of the modern dad would show him playing golf, grilling in a World's #1 Dad apron, wearing luxury bathrobes, new ties, cufflinks (hopefully not at once) and compiling lists of all the tech gadgets he can't live without. But that image doesn't jive with the dads I know.
The dads I know are breaking down traditional stereotypes of what it means to be a father and a husband. They're spending more time with their children, they're more involved than ever in parental decision making, more of them are staying at home with their children and they're talking candidly about the experience of fatherhood in unprecedented numbers and ways.
All week long we're going to be celebrating the modern dad by introducing you to some of the coolest dads we know, showcasing terrific dad projects and products as well as sharing some of our favorites posts from the archives.
