Quite interesting seeing as how the West Elm in downtown DC closed a few months ago only to make way for a Forever 21.
Yeah, their Richmond store also closed a few months ago. Weird.
I agree, weird. The West Elm store at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca just recently closed too.
I work near the Chelsea store, and walk through 5 times a week, to go between 17th and 18th Streets. And since the store opened here I have seen the product, visuals, and catalog develop into a something that can begin to rival stores like Crate and Barrel.
I'm not surprised the DC store closed, it was a ghost town anytime I visited it. West Elm's limited physical stores it probably a big factor in its online sales.
Wish more CB2 stores would open up instead. :|
I've read quite a few negative posts/comments about West Elm's quality on AT recently; how does CB2 compare in terms of quality (controlled for price)? Even though they are targeted at a similar demographic, their aesthetics must be at least somewhat different--otherwise I wouldn't favor CB2's offerings so much. XD
