We've seen these billboards all over town picturing the new 90210 cast. What kept piquing our interest is the pool they're lounging in. We were pretty sure it that it wasn't a custom pool but did a quick web search to find out the details. Producers actually used the famed Mondrian Hotel pool as a backdrop for the shoot. A little bummed after finding out this 90210 pool doesn't exist, we decided to travel the world to find real life examples of unique pools.
For our next vacation, we'll be sure to stay here at the Sarojin Hotel in Thailand.
While we wouldn't be able to fit in this miniature Lundby pool, we could look at it all day just the same.
Having been to Hearst Castle ourselves, the enormous proportions of the castle as well as the pool are breathtaking.
We've seen pools in all shapes and sizes but this guitar pool really caught our attention.

The Hearst Castle pool is amazing to see in person! I had to remind myself it wasn't made in ancient Greek times. lol.

Please tell me you're not serious.
how could you possibly think that pool was real? aside from the fact that each number would only fit one person, look at the picture!!! that's a terrible photoshop!
Fooled me... Would be super cool if it were real.
Living in LA, I am consistantly blown away by the things people spend money on. A pool like this in the yard of a BH home is more likely than not.
Have you seen "Pools" by Kelly Klein (http://www.amazon.com/Pools-Kelly-Klein/dp/0679409130)? I haven't seen the book so I can't comment on the photographs, but I saw an interview with her where they showed some of the pools, maybe on the Today Show or something like that. They were amazing... one the just floated into the ocean. Amazing!
You do realize that about 95% of what's on movie posters is photoshopped, right? Half the time the bodies aren't even the actual star's bodies.
The real question is, how much do you folks get paid for each post that not so subtly references a current or upcoming movie/tv show?
I'm guessing we'll see a whole series of posts on the "interiors of 90210"
Can't wait.
oh come on!
yeah, I love all of you AT-ers....but this post was a little redic. sorry.
New 90210? Maybe I shouldn't get television after all.
I think it may be more of a writing style issue than an observation issue. "This is fake, but check out these real pools" would have been better than inserting a character into a description, but AT has always been bad at that. We don't have to relate to the writer personally to be interested in the content, but every entry has some anecdote that half the time doesn't even relate to the actual entry. Segways can be hard, why not skip them and just show us the good stuff.
Also, you could show or link to the "famed Mondrian Hotel pool" -- maybe we'd all have that collective a-ha moment because we've seen it used elsewhere.
Wow. Tough crowd today.
I've been seeing all these posters around town - can someone help me understand whether batman real? I should call the studio and check.
i thought they already re-made a 90210 recently. I think it was called The OC.
I don't understand what the "famed" backdrop is? Grass??!!
I'm also blown away anyone could think that for an ad, anyone would go through the trouble of a custom pool. I think these must be the same people who can't tell CGI from real explosions and the like. To me it's obvious.
In defense of AT, my guess is that the poster piqued their interest about unique pools, and this was their tongue-in-cheek way of bringing up the concept.
Next thing all you Negative Nancies will rag on is that "Snakes on a Plane" was supposed to be serious. You all need a vacation!
Well, I for one couldn't understand why the anaconda would go for that one guy when everyone knows that anacondas...
You're right, I need a vacation!
And if I could pick one place to spend it at it would be the Thai hotel above. Awesome pool!!
LOL. Not only is the pool not real, but the people in the pool don't even look real. It looks like a screenshot from The Sims.
Wow you guys are rather harsh. It was an interesting advertisement to catch people's attention. It caught the blogger's attention and led to the search for cool pools.
Even though it's impractical it's an eye catching idea. Get's you thinking about what else people have thought of.
So chill out and stop being such Negative Nancys.
