Surveying my kitchen the other day, I realized that although I now have the counter space, I have yet to purchase a microwave. The coffeemaker, however, is so essential that I have two different types, and rushed out to replace one the same day that it broke.
A short list of appliances I have lived without at one point or another: dishwasher, toaster, blender, vacuum cleaner (although I had bare hardwood floors at the time), iron, washing machine, and television. Some I missed more than others, but very few affected my life in some meaningful way.
What appliance can you do without or what can you not? Leave your answer in the comments below.
