As a follow up to yesterday's post on Pinterest, I wanted to delve into the subject a little further and share some of my favorite uses for Pinterest. Like many others, I am quite addicted to using Pinterest to search for inspiration from recipes to home decor. I categorize my favorite restaurants in one board (a backup to my Yelp profile) and have a handful of Los Angeles furniture stores grouped together in another board.
Designing my Home: I created a board to bookmark decor products I love for my own space. Some of the products are aspirational, while others are pieces I plan to purchase for my home.
Flowers: I love floral design and all the different ideas for unconventional vases. I use this board as inspiration for incorporating flowers into my home.
Recipes to Try: Pinterest now serves as my online cookbook. I love how easy it is to scroll through the images and recipes. I often refer to this board right before my weekly grocery trip.
Portraits from Apartment Therapy House Tours: This board is more for fun. I love going through our house tours to find out who lives in the space. I rounded up my favorite house tours and the people who occupy the homes.
Color Inspiration: Sometimes the most challenging part of putting together a home design is selecting the color scheme or paint colors. I pull color inspiration from fashion, nature, interior design, etc.
Online Decor Magazines: There seems to be so many online shelter magazines popping up. It is hard to keep track of them all, so I created a board to roundup my favorites.
DIY Projects: Whenever I have a free weekend, I am going to go through this board and try my hand at a few of the projects.
Favorite Los Angeles Restaurants: Pinterest serves as my new Yelp. Before going out on a Saturday night, I check out this board for a quick preview of some restaurants I want to try and my favorite go-to places. Sometimes I will even link the restaurant photo to its Yelp review.
Favorite LA Home Stores: There are so many furniture stores in Los Angeles that I had to find a place to bookmark a few great sources. Whenever I am on the hunt for a new coffee table or throw pillows, I check this board before heading out to hit the stores.
Kid's Rooms: Someday when I have kids, I will utilize this board a little more. In the meantime, I love being inspired by all the creative and fantasy kid's spaces.
MORE INFO: Apartment Therapy recently created a Pinterest page. Check it out on Apartment Therapy on Pinterest.

I'm fairly new to Pinterest. So far, I have general boards like "Inspiration" and more specific ones like "lighting". But, there are some great board ideas here.
I have a general style board, dinner ideas, sugary snack recipes, clothing and inspiration for my future house :) I love it!
I just started on pinterest as well, solely because I'm buying my first home (and moving in at the end of august!!!) Right now I'm using pinterest as a place to keep inspiration for each room in the house. I have a kitchen board, and bedroom board, a garden board, etc. After we've done much of the work that needs to be done on the house, I'll probably use it the way you are now :)
My account is here: http://pinterest.com/sewindie/
I have three boards so far: Decor, which is mostly full of boho/gyspy looks, Hairstyles, and Randomness.
I have to admit, I got a little giddy this morning when I saw that some people had started following my Decor board.
I've been trying to request a pinterest invitation for 2 days. Is anyone else having issues getting an invitation?
I AM! What should I do? The site doesn't want to work for me?
The site's still run by a small team and still in beta, so they're currently doing a lot of maintenance. If twitter's your thing, check out their twitter account (@pinterest) for updates...
I have way too many boards, but I love going back and looking at them and following the links and finding new things on those sites. It's freed up vast amounts of space on my computer. My Decor boards include: "fantastic floors", "walls I want", "happiness is a warm house", among others. For those of you looking for invites, I might have a few, but, as pinterest is currently not working, I can't check.
Callmecordelia I would love an invite when you're able to check your pinterest. What's the best way to contact you? :)
pinterest is so addicting! i have boards for home inspiration, kids rooms, outdoors-backyards/curb appeal, diy projects , fav blogs, bathrooms, kitchens, art, and for mi casa...
keeping track of online mags is a good idea, as there are so many new ones popping up... wish pinterest was working NOW so i can start that board!
I have one for urban chicken, and another for Paleo, low carb food & related resources. And another one with sewing projects - I used to save everything on delicio.us, but keeping visual bookmarks is so much more inspirational!

I'm now following them on twitter so it'll keep me updated. This blog post really did a lot for them :)
@Goldy713 - If you go to my blog and send me a msg with your email, then I should be able to send you an invite! :)

Why not use it to start a favourite collection? For example, I have used Pinterest to start a collection of elephants. I would not necessarily go out a fill my home with them (with four kids they are all the elephants I can just about handle) so whenever I see an image that grabs my attention, I "Pin it" under my "Elephant Love" Board and voila.... I get a fuzzy feeling of accomplishment without the clutter in my home :)
Totally agree! It's guilt-free and clutter-free collecting! My favorite board is "Toys I Loved" http://lifescollections.com/toys/toys-i-loved/ a collection of my favorite childhood things. Just looking at it makes me all warm and fuzzy - it's like a time machine transporting me back to my childhood (and I don't have to keep all those musty boxes in my basement!)
Who has time to do all this!?!? lol jk, I barely get a chance to get on apartment therapy.
I love pinterest! I resisted for a long time (I'd been on Tumblr for ages), but I'm glad I gave in. Love it much, much more!
Thanks for bringing pinterest to my attention. It's new to me and something I'll definately look into!
