We all have those items unique to us that we seem to use every day. Although they're not 100% necessary, my items are really important to me. I can't seem to live without my task force of essential items that carry me from day to day.
These 5 items of mine are completely unnecessary. I don't need any of them to live and I would still be able to carry on without them. However, I've grown to love each item so much that I can't go a day without using each one. My items are:
1. Bodum French Press: Once you start drinking French Press coffee, you won't be able to stop. Sure it takes a few extra steps to make, but it's totally worth the payoff!
2. My Fan: I run hot. I'm always really hot at night especially. Even in the Winter! My trusty bedside fan keeps me cool without irritating my boyfriend. I've grown so dependent on it!
3. My candles. I always have to have one burning. My ongoing favorite is Anthropologie's Avacado Mint.
4. My wooden spoon: I use it everyday. Although it was really cheap from IKEA, it has stood the test of time. I don't know what I would do without my trusty wooden spoon.
5. TV tray tables: Embarrassing, I know. We keep them hidden when company is over, but I couldn't go a day without using one. I'm always so busy. The only time I have to watch tv is while I'm eating!
What are your 5 essential Items?

White Enamel Flatwa...
My #1 is also my french press coffee maker, for sure!
#2 My KitchenAid mixer, hardly a day goes by thtat I don't use it
#3 My awesome 3-oven cooker. It's not only extremely functional, but sooo easy on the eye as well!
#4 My new washing machine is great - it has taken laundry day to a whole new level
#5 My army of table lamps - they are just so much better then a light fixture - I have at least two in every room :o)
I have to add #6 My ModCat litter box, my cats love it and it's cute :o)
I could go on and on, I am SO grateful for all my little helpers and comforters, I know I am privileged!
Not really sure about the top 5, but the microwave would definitely be on the list, as would my Le Creuset cookware. I have the same TV tables; my dad got them for me without asking me if I wanted them. They are freaking hideous, but I use them all the time (never for eating off of, though). Maybe my vacuum cleaner and down duvets would be the other items on the list; I'd be bereft without them.
excluding the computer...
-coffee machine & kettle (a gorgeous Michael Graves one, birthday present)
-the notebook next to the phone that has a space for the pen inside of it, and always a pen
-Danish water carafe, that's designed to hold classic duralex glasses.
-the trays, a plastic one purchased at a sale, and a mid-century one I repainted. I use them every day in lieu of a table set.
-the ugly cheap saucepan I bought in 1997 when I was a student and is still fine for use. I actually never really thought about it until now...I use it every day. Maybe I'll change it if I leave but it ans the old 1980 Visionware saucepan that was my mothers are enough for my cooking needs. I guess my utensils are ugly... I'll probably change them someday when I have a big beatiful pad..... *sigh*
Oh gosh... this is hard!
In no particular order:
- My Cutco cheese knife. Many moons ago I sold the stuff, and this is from my demo set. I love it.
- My sturdy old Crate & Barrel sofa acquired from Craigslist for $500 nearly new (forever ago).
- Chrome full length mirror on wheels from Target clearance for under $20.
-Yankee candles! I have a serious addiction. I get email coupons. When there's a 3 for 2 sale, forget it!
- IMMERSION BLENDER. I would marry it if I could.
I have many favs, mostly kitchen things: Perflex pepper mill, Simplex kettle, a white porcelin salad bowl that is the perfect shape on my table and in my hands.
But, the thing that I use most often is a knife from a set I bought out of the trunk of a car on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC about 30 years ago. The entire set of knives, a set of aluminum pots and pans, and a set of flatware, all brand new and all for 20 bucks! Not surprisingly, everything else is long gone and the knife's wooden handle is seriously split, but I reach for it about a zillion times a day over all the other newer, fancier, more expensive ones in the drawer. And, I can sharpen it to a razor.

tv tables are awesome, especially if you have a small space its great to have little tables you can whip out or tuck away. We were also gifted a set several years ago and i was really skeptical about them until i started to find a million uses for them (desk for a laptop, hold your toolbox up while you work on a job, extra space to put drinks and food for a party, plant stand, bedside table etc..)
I dont use them as much as I use to, but over the years they have been well worth it and have seen a million different uses through a few apartments.
