Q: Whilst searching paint samples in Brussels, and in desperate need of a cocktail, I found a leaflet for business apartments next to my favourite hotel. I instantly loved the whole look and feel of the studio, especially as I'm currently searching for the perfect colour scheme for my new apartment. One downer in this matter: I'm colour blind. Not that I see things in monochrome, but still, it's quite tricky for me to decide what colour this is.
Plus the reflection of the light makes it hard for my friends to decide (even two interior architect seem to disagree in the matter).
So, I kindly ask you all to help a fellow in need, and give me your opinion on what colour the dark wall is.

Commercial Flour Sa...
It looks like a mocha with reddish undertones to me - so, brown.
Reddish or purple undertones, but definitely a brown.
It's a mauvey brown. The closest approximation I can make to a paint chip to compare it with is Benjamin Moore's "Sweet Rosy Brown."

It's brown. Which specific brown is impossible to tell, specially since there's artificial light in the photos. But it doesn't matter, because now you know you like that color, go to Levis (hi, I'm in Brussels too) and get a few brown color swatches similar to the shade on the pictures, take them to your place, tape them to the wall, and then take a few days looking at them to see which you like best under the different lights (natural in the morning and afternoon, electrical light at night). Perhaps get a friend to do it with you, since you're... color challenged. And then pick the one you like best that that best suits your space.
Good luck!
It's hard to tell from the light, but it looks quite aubergine to me. Brinjal by Farrow and Ball is lovely.
To me it looks like a brownish eggplant.
Definitely looks like a brownish purple to me as well. I like the color, looks nice it what appears to be a rather well lit, bright room.
Pure Home has a couple of colors close to this one - http://www.purehome.com/profile/selectprimarycolor - check it out and build a color palette.
Maybe try:

?
It looks exactly like Cooper Adobe Brown. National Historic Trust color, available through...Valspar, maybe?
This reminds of me of the colour I had in my old apartment. It definitely had the reddish brown tint to it, almost like clay. It has a different colour in different lighting though (sometimes more gray). The paint I used was Mountain Ridge (780B-6) by Behr.
My dining room is almost that exact color, and it is hard to describe. In some lights it is fairly burgundy, in others it is more plummy brown--I wish I had a color recommendation, but it was already painted that color when we bought the place. Maybe something like Benjamin Moore's Ruby Dusk, Hodley Red, or Chestnut? But your color looks to have a little more purple in it than those. Hm, maybe BM's Townsend Harbor Brown or Dark Walnut? Just going by internet swatches, those last two might be my best bet. This is a relevant question for me, too, because my dining room needs to be repainted and I might want a similar color again.
I second HCI's recommendation of Sherwin Williams 'Marooned':

It looks like it has all the grey/red/eggplant/brown undertones that the picture seems to have.
Good luck, it will be lovely!
i would call it raisin (purple-brown)
It's brown! I myself would call it chocolate. Every space is different in terms of light/atmosphere, so just pick several browns that you like and try them out on your walls. See how the light looks on each swatch throughout the day, and pick your favorite. No need to get the exact hue in the picture-- it might not actually work for your space. But you can get something really close to it.
I say don't fret about it and enjoy it, it looks good.
I agree with the brownish eggplant...in the lamp light it appears to have purple undertones to it
I am color blind too.
Blues, greens not dark, and blacks, brown, and grays are really confusing. It's especially funny when someone on TV describes the colors, and I am seeing something entirely different. I used to think it was the TV color controls. HAHA I can see the red/rose family, so those are my house colors. I love them so, they are very soothing to me, and I can see them! But come to think of it, maybe the red/roses to different to me than others.
BYW The wall looks gray to me, but seriously, what do I know.
Hard to suggest an exact match based on the photo, but it is definitely a purply brown. I have an accent wall in Benjamin Moore's Black Bean Soup that looks similar. Good luck!
The middle picture of the sofa with the bed in the background has both artificial light and the natural light from the windows, so it will give you the best representation of the color, which I would call a slightly reddish chocolate brown. As someone else mentioned, just get some paint swatches in that range (take along a normal-vision helper, with the photo??) and then try the swatches in your place, which likely has different lighting anyhow. Other spaces make good inspirations, but it's hard to be sure the samepaint in your space will have the same effect, since everything else is likely to be different. Good luck!
reddish brown it is
it has a purple undertone. i would say it's a brown/plum in eggshell or satin finish.
I agree with melissakay: Raisin.
Looks exactly like the color I used in my dining room: Benjamin Moore Hasbrouck Brown. And don't judge it by their website which makes it look much lighter than it is - a deep, rich brown that in liquid form looks exactly like brownie mix (it dries darker.) I wanted chocolate the entire time I was painting!
I'd name it Fig.
This is definitely a reddish(purple) brown. It appears that it might be close to Sherwin Williams' Cordovan:http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/ideas/color/SW6027_cordovan/
The Marrooned color is close as well however I believe that would read too red on the wall compared to this color.
This color definitely reminds me of my favorite color I have painted several apartments with which is Behr's Weathered Wood (3A25-5). The color on their website is not as accurate as it could be, but don't doubt it, the minute I saw this picture I thought it was that color. I suggest ordering a sample, you won't be sorry. The perfect red/purple brown that sets everything off to perfection. It is as dark as the color in your pictures even if the swatch on the Behr website looks lighter.
i think the reason the photos attract you might depend less on color and more on ambiance. everything in the room has a warm color tone to it allowing everything to pull together - my thought might be to focus less on the exact color and collect things in different shades of the same or similar warmth- ps warmth is easily detectable which is again prob why you like to photos in the first place- trust your gut and go for it! ps after pictures would be appreciated
It's a great color. I would try calling and asking a manager. They may actually know. It looks like the color of a fig to me too.
