Q: I have West Elm's Overlapping Squares Chairs sitting around CB2's clear glass table with a simple chrome base. They were the floor samples so they were a good deal, but the finish just isn't me. I started sanding them and took a peak revealing a rough looking oak. I was thinking of painting them citron, a la Jonathan Adler's Chinese Chippendale chairs. Then I thought, how about Pantone's color of the year, Honeysuckle! Is that too much and too Better Homes and Gardens?

I think a high gloss orange would look fab. However it also depends on what color your walls are.

I just painted two of my dining chairs bright pink - they're set of those cheap brown stained folding chairs from world market - I left two brown, but I love it. Adds just the right pop of color without being overwhelming in my small place.
I'd do it, and I don't think it would be too Better Homes & Gardens unless you went overboard matchy-matchy with accessories. Pictures when you're done!
Paint them an awesome color, and when you tire of that, paint them a new color!
I agree with annemc, paint them a fun color and then just repaint whenever you're tired of that color. Bright green, bright yellow, whatever strikes your fancy.
It all depends on the rest of the colors in the room.... however, before you make a choice, I'd read this fabulous article about color from last week's Houzz bulletin:

bright turquoise - nice anywhere with anything
if you want pink, go for it. it's only paint.
i just purchased some vintage bamboo chairs and painted them silver and i can't wait to paint them another funky bright color in the future! you really can't go wrong!
It's so hard to recommend something without seeing the entire room. That being said I agree with a lot of the others - you really can't go wrong!
If you are drawn to pinks and have a lot of pink already in the room, i like the idea of making the chairs orange. If you have a lot of turquoise in your home, yellow or lime chairs would look awesome. Or you can go for a more monochromatic look.
Have fun!
What other colors do you have in your space?
Select one, and use it on your chairs.
For me, to be a bright colour, it has to be one I love. That way I don't care if its in for five minutes or a decade. A truly personal bright, whether its purple or hot pink or lime, makes your friends think "oh, that's her" not "oh, so she painted it in 2011."
Of course, I'm also a person too lazy to repaint.
So I would go citron over honeysuckle* but I love green and yellow and don't love pink.
*Pantone makes me so angry, I effing love honeysuckle! Which is pale yellow! <---Rage of mine no one cares about.
I'm a huge sucker for honeysuckle (and these chairs)! I say go for it!
Wow - weird I have two of those chairs bought as floor samples as well.
Personal preference. I'd probably choose deep turquoise.
A strong, bold green. Those chairs look like they can support a really great color.
