Q: We have a beautiful dining room with a lot of natural light in our new house. We have a cane-front credenza and the Graham dining table from Crate and Barrel. Our dining room must function as not only a formal dining room, but also our everyday table since we do not have a breakfast nook. We also have 2 small children, so everything should be somewhat child-friendly:
I would like some nice chairs that are formal enough for those holiday dinners but also casual and durable enough for every day use. I also like the idea of mixing wood and mixing chair styles. I am considering getting the Madeleine Side chairs in Burnt Oak from Restoration Hardware and the Vintage French Cane Back Armchairs (tying in with the Caned credenza) for the ends, also from RH. That would make 3 different wood finishes. Is that too much? Or should I stick with a wood or metal chair that matches the table? The Madeleine metal chairs match closely with the legs of the dining table.
