On the vanity, I show handsoap, clock, one bottle of cologne, and a vintage flask filled with green apple-flavored mouthwash.
Everything else is hidden in two drawers or the cupboards below.

In the shower: shampoo, conditioner, sea sponge, body wash gel.

I keep two clocks - one by the sink and one in the shower.

Before I had them, I tended to dawdle while showering or getting ready...

We have everything "hidden", in the world's tiniest bathroom, it's just more practical. I do put the handsoap out when guests come over, so they don't have to search for it.

I prefer the look of everything hidden, but it's not practical. My list looks like the original post/master list.

Show:
-Toothbrush and toothpaste in a nice cup that can easily be stashed away when needed.
-Hand Soap without any label or wording on it (its pretty obvious what it is)
-Magazines
-Shampoo, conditioner, bar of soap and face wash in the shower.

Hidden:
Everything else.

Its a challenge to keep things hidden. I dont even like the clutter in the cabinet I keep everything else in... but thats an issue for another day.

One small shelf plus a pedestal sink means everything is hidden except the following: hand soap, hand lotion, cotton balls and swabs, kleenex, toilet brush.

In the shower: shampoo and conditioner (one bottle each), body soap, body lotion, and a bath brush.

Out: toothbrushes, past and floss, toilet scrubber and plunger (but the plunger is hidden in a "plunger house"), two extra rolls of paper.

Hidden: everything else (I don't count shampoo; that's hidden behind the shower curtain)

Oh, hand soap is out too -- we like guests to be able to wash up. : )

My landlady puts the toilet paper in a closed drawer in the vanity next to the toilet. Then she tells you after the deed: "Oh, did I tell you that the toilet paper is in the drawer?"

I can't put anything on the little built-in shelf under the mirror; my cat will knock it off. So basically everything is hidden except toothbrushes (in the holder), hairbrushes (in a mug on the counter), and hand soap.

i only show the soap dispenser/pump thingy and one air freshener wisp thingy.

everything else is in the medicine cabinet or in the hall closet stored away.

Everyday items go in the medicine cupboard, cleaning supplies under the sink and everything else that is not used daily goes in the linen closet.

I like having things out and handy in the bathroom, like toothbrush. My two cats decided they wanted to clean their teeth too and started chewing on it. I've now switched to a battery-operated one WITH a cover.

Hand soap. Makeup brushes that cost me a week's salary. Clock. Everything else gets jammed into closets/drawers. Except the box of tampons when it's that time of the month. Subtle reminder to the boyfriend. :)

This may be totally gross, but a presentation by a Dyson Airblade rep at my studio today reminded me: your toilet creates an aerosol effect when you flush it. When you flush with the lid up, tiny particles of whatever's in the bowl fly around the room and stick to everything in sight.

Therefore, toothbrushes should absolutely live in your medicine cabinet.

I'll let you stew on this visual and decide what else you want to leave out in the open! ;)

why?
because there is no space anywhere to hide it in our bathroom, and everyone in the home uses it everyday...so no point hiding it away. Also it gets more used than the toothbrushes and toothpaste because sometimes we're too tired to brush before bed, and i honestly believe it's the one dental ingredient that has kept us from cavities these years. When i used to brush religiously, it didn't keep the cavity from attacking my teeth, but since we welcomed the industrial-sized mouthwash into our life...it has been a real mouth-saver.

Another plus is that it's so giant, we only need to buy the liter sized bottles every so often to refill into our giant pump bottle. Most people buy the large versions to refill their small bottles, we do the exact opposite to fill up our big pump bottle.

Everything is showing (including pipes!)

Why?

Because I'm still trying to pay-off the new place and save up for the renovation. :(

We are lucky to have a storage closet in our itty bitty 1940's bathroom. Everything is hidden except hand soap, three apothecary jars filled with cotton swabs, cotton balls and disposable razors and three glass bottles (teal and clear, from Ikea) filled with various liquid necessities. All of these things are on a pair of narrow glass wall shelves.

Everything is showing (except the toilet cleaner- under the sink). We have his-and-hers open shelves on the wall opposite the sink and keep everything out for convenience.

I have a pet peeve about showing the toilet brush...it skeeves me out more than having my toothbrush in the room when the toilet flushes.

That photo keeps me from even thinking about anything else! What IS that gorgeous globe, or convex mirror, or whatever it is? That's not a PhotoShop trick, is it? Speak!

When company comes over the only stuff "out" in my bathroom is the handsoap and lots of hand towels on the rack.

During normal operations I have mismatched antique washstand cups/bowls that hold my toothbrush/toothpaste, eyeliners/makeup brushes/mascara/hair comb, and little pots of mineral makeup. But all that gets stashed in the bathroom closet when people come over.

On Show:

Rest is either in my medicine cabinet or vanity. I actually recently put everything I use in the morning (w/exception of above) in a plastic bin in my vanity...now, I just pull the bin out in the mornings and go in clockwise direction (yeah, I'm anally organized). Before that, some was in the medicine cabinet...I actually had to get used to it at first, but it's made things a bit easier.

The only things we leave out are our soap, toothbrushes, and my contact cleaning solution. Everything else we keep under the sink or in our linen closet. I think it works better and looks better that way. Of course it helps that we have severely limited the number of personal care products that we have. We started to make our own and we make sure to make things that can multipurpose. You can check out our recipes on our blog

I don't understand cottonballs--when we displayed them growing up they got used once a month (maybe) when I or my mother removed our nail polish. They seem so useless day to day to me and therefore pointless to leave out....

I leave out (or rather visible) a towel, a clock, a box of kleenix, soap, and hand lotion. Everything else is behind closed doors.
