Window Treatment Ideas for Garage Studio?

Good Questions

Q: Help! I have a lovely garage apartment space that I call my own. The place is about 600 square feet of open space. I think I've done a good job of separating the space into living, dining and sleeping. However, one thing I've had trouble with is what to do with the windows.

There are 7 full-size windows with plain white plastic blinds throughout the space which I really don't like, but I don't know what else to do with. I need them to keep privacy at night and to block the hot sun during the day (single pane windows aren't very good at insulating). However, I like opening them up in the evenings or Saturday mornings. I need window treatments that are:

1. Cheap
2. Easy to install
3. Will afford some privacy and insulation
4. Will look good throughout the whole space (bright red couch and turquoise beadspread with some gold accent pillows)

Keep in mind that I rent the space, so it can't be a permanent install. Anyone have a good suggestions? Thanks!
