Over the last few weeks, we've learned about the cost of living in our country's largest and most expensive cities, including San Francisco, L.A., Chicago, and Brooklyn. Invariably, when talking about living in such vital yet pricey places, the topic of moving to the Midwest comes up. While the cities listed above are unmatched world destinations, there are plenty of small cities where you can walk (or bike or bus) to work, shopping, and entertainment, and live a generally urban lifestyle. Kansas City is one such city, and it's right in the middle of it all (at least when you're looking at a U.S. map)! Here's its rundown:

Kansas City, like many American cities, suffers from sprawl. It's said that this city has more miles of highway per capita than any other in our nation. But that's not what we're highlighting here. This post shares three city neighborhoods where you can walk or take a reasonable commute by public transit between home, work, errands, and entertainment.

Essentials & Entertainment
