Traveling for the holidays can be hectic, but time well spent with loved ones makes the effort absolutely worthwhile. Yet no matter how enjoyable our trip or how reluctant we are to get back to the daily grind, a part of us always loves returning to our home. There's just something to be said for the comforting feeling of one's own space, perhaps.
We here at AT take pride in our homes, making sure our apartments, condos or houses are not only a place to rest our heads but also to nurture our souls; a niche in this world geared completely toward the comfort and well being of the dweller. So is there anything in particular that you miss when you're away? What makes you give a contented sigh when you open the door to your house after a long trip?

ahhh...home sweet home! of course, my adorable kitty is the first sight for home sore eyes!
Home is where my cats are. They give me unconditional love and ya can't always say that about various family members.
my books! my cat! mi sofa and mi center table where i put my feet on, tea, the freshness of my apartment, and my orchids! lol i think that's all
My dogs and cats first of all. Unconditional love is right. No matter how much my sister plays the "its all about me game" over the holidays I know I can come home and be number 1 with my pets. Secondly, I miss my bed, reading light, and stack of design magazines.
The most welcoming thing, to me, is the smell of my home.
Other runners up: my favorite spot on the couch where I can cover up with my favorite throw and see a spectacular view out my window, my craft area, or a good cup of coffee in one of my favorite cups.
When I'm gone from home for extended periods of time I miss my cozy bed, my city view, my cooking utensils, my flatscreen TV and my WiFi.
...but I sure don't miss the laundry, the dusting, the grocery shopping or having to figure out what I'm going to fix for myself to eat when I get home from work at night.
The cats. The color of my living room. The paintings on the wall. The little nest I make on the couch with a throw and three pillows when I'm reading a book. The view of the mountains from the kitchen.
On a very different note, is there any way to get the "Home Sweet Home" Eames chair picture as a poster? I love it. LOVE.
My bed, hands down. I never sleep as well anywhere else.
yes, the bed and the good pillows! also, just knowing where everything is (usually) and getting mail!
hanging with the mrs. is the most welcoming bit about coming home, methinks. the cat's nice, too...
I guess just the feeling that it's mine... where I can relax, change into comfortable clothes, do a good cup of tea, surf on line... and just be myself, without anyone around. My apt is far from being cozy and homey yet - it's a work in progress, and I still have books in piles on a floor, and not pictures on the walls (but should be within a two weeks!)... but it's mine, and I deeply appreciate it.
I will join the feline bandwagon. I love walking to those little faces. Also, the fact that it our space. We crafted it. We chose every element. We are free to be as quirky as we want here.
