Q: Help! We just moved into a great new place, all except for this kind of weird bathroom sink situation. The bathroom has slanted ceilings, so the sink cabinet was built extra long so that you don't bump your head when you're brushing your teeth. But, that means you also end up with this unwieldy wide space behind the sink, and no mirror…
We need a mirror here somehow - and are pondering standing mirrors, but haven't gone for it yet. I thought I'd ask you wise folks for advice...how to install a functional mirror? And how to use all of that odd counter space behind the sink?

Shaw's Original Fir...
What if you hung a lightweight mirror from the ceiling using those little eye hooks screws? Or a standing mirror next to the sink?
Put a 4" wide wooden shelf just above the sink backsplash. Put your must have items on the shelf, along with a small mirror that has an interesting frame.
You could also try putting a group of little matching framed mirrors on the wall. Also, some paint color would class up the room. That builder beige isn't helping. A more sophisticated neutral would help upgrade the space. Good luck.
If you have enough with a make up mirror what about one that can be extended out and swivels so that you can adjust it in your direction? However I can't tell from the pics weather it can be mounted high enough so its workable.
We had a slanted ceiling once and had a mirror on another wall opposite the vanity which could be another option for you.
Good Luck :)
You could hang or stand a mirror as far forward as you think looks appealing. And then construct storage in the space behind. Like an open-sided medicine cabinet. It would need to be accessible from the sides…like cubbies stacked on top of each other. It wouldn’t need to be pretty, since it would be hidden. And the space looks tall, like it would give you plenty of storage. You could have one side, your partner the other.
You could get a glass shop to cut you two individual mirrors about the width of the sink. One for the flat back wall, and one for the slanted wall, as far up as you want it to go. It might not get your bathroom featured on a house tour, but it would be practical. I personally love large mirrors. Especially in a bathroom-- they really improve lighting, and make the space feel larger… which might be a benefit with the odd space in that area.
I also liked the idea to use many, smaller mirrors. Depending on your style… I think some vintage frames would be nice. Or, you can always go the Ikea route and just buy their mirrored tiles and do the whole backsplash, and up under the funky angle as far as you liked.
p.s.- assuming this is an apartment, you could always ask your landlord what past residents have done. Some of my past tenants have been extremely creative and I always pass on their solutions I found valuable…
I would get a decent looking mirror in a plastic (water resistant) frame and just sit it on the counter behind the sink, angled so that you can see yourself when getting ready.
I like the idea of a standing mirror to the side of your sink. Angled towards you. If you have room.
Get one or two of these and mount them on the wall space behind the counter. They can be pulled out from the wall 18 inches.

What about using mirror tiles, on the back and a bit up the angled ceiling? Then put some skinny molding around it to make it look like it was framed or a built-in. Good luck, can't wait to see what you decide to do!
