There used to be a little neighborhood florist around the corner from my apartment. Their annual holiday windows inspired me more than anything on 5th Avenue. This holiday season, sadly, the shop has moved, as have I. But something still clicked as the season got underway, and I briefly wondered what they would come up with this year:
Do you have a favorite little neighborhood display that you look forward to each year? Or which of the big window displays are on your don't-miss list for holiday inspiration?

Always, Anthropologie...3rd street Promenade.
As fun as the scenes in the windows of Macy's and the other big department stores are, they don't do much in the way of inspiration for me. That's why I was excited to see that additional windows of Macys were covered in paper stars as a backdrop to glamorous purses, shoes, and other accessories. I LOVE the use of paper for stars, trees, and ornaments throughout the house, so I snagged a ton of pictures. I actually wrote about some of my favorite commercial Christmas decoration inspiration earlier this week: younghipandhandy.blogspot.com

the poor people in the photo look like they were caught between glass and an avalanche :S

Bergdorf's, without rival or question.
Tiffany
The shop fronts I saw 2 weeks ago, Worth Avenue, West Palm Beach...Ralph Lauren, Tiffany, Kors, Valentino...amazing. Note to the Badgley Mischa store: You better step it up :) Tiffany's window had a tree limb cut out from the pages of a book supporting a blue glittered bird and appropriate pendant. Simple and very elegant.
Hermès and Tiffany.

WHICH Shop's Holiday Decor Inspires You, not WHAT
West Elm! There is one near me in Emryville, CA that has some wonderful in store displays like a vintage book tower and counter lit colored bottle dosplay.
Also, the Jameson Hotel in Chicago had a really nice lobby installation last year of about 50 or so stacked vintage suitcases. I'm not sure if it's still there, but it was really cool. There were springs and matress stuffing in them.
