Q: I recently bought a pair of unfinished, light wood nightstands off of Craigslist and would like to paint or stain them so they match the other (somewhat mismatched but in a good way) furniture in my bedroom (chest of drawers and desk shown below). My question is, should I try match the nightstands to the desk or the dresser? Or should I use a brighter color for them that matches one of the colors on my throw pillow (shown), which are basically my palette for the room?
Sidenote: I also have not-so-attractive off-white/beige carpeting and my walls are an equally unattractive off-white. Yay, renting. My duvet is also a neutral color (West Elm pintuck in natural).
Suggestions would be much appreciated! Please be kind to my design-challenged little heart, as my room is still a work in progress.
