What Size Runner is Appropriate for Hallway?

Good Questions

Q: We have a long hallway in our home (15 feet) and I can't figure out if I should get a runner that takes up most of the hallway (12 feet), or one that is the length of the shorter wall on the left (10 foot wall, 10 foot runner). The hallway is a backwards "L" shape. The bottom of the "L" goes to the master bedroom. So if I'm standing in the master bedroom, do I want to see a rug poking out from that corner? Or do I want the rug to line up with the long wall? Thanks for your advice! Oh, and the rugs I am considering are from Ballard Designs (the Piper, or Tahira).
