Q: I live in a large, gorgeous community house with three other adults and a dog. We are fortunate to have a large room in the center of the house in addition to our living room, but we have NO idea what to do with it. It has five walls, four of which have doors, and a giant (non-working) fireplace on the fifth wall. The light is good in the morning, but the room gets pretty dark in the afternoon. The cathedral ceilings feel a bit overwhelming as well:

We'd like to have it well set up for cozy social gatherings, small workshops, curling up with a book, and doing yoga, but currently it only just feels large and empty and full of doors. We don't have a huge budget (maybe $1200), but two of us are good at thrift finds and we're okay with IKEA. It's just that none of us can get a good idea of what direction to take the room in. I would love to get suggestions for this room. It seems like such a great big canvas, but we're totally lost.

Any suggestions for what to do with this? Thanks in advance!
