Q: I'm about to close on my first condo and since now I can actually paint for the first time ever, I was thinking of painting an accent wall. The new place is exactly the same as my current unit (pictured here) except the floors will be darker, almost cherry, and I'll be getting my grandmother's fabulous olive green 1950s coffee table.
The downstairs is basically one giant room, but stairwell has some interesting angles, so I was thinking of painting the wall in front of the stairwell and possibly the stairwell walls as well. I was thinking maybe a shade of green? But I have some brightly colored art and so I'm afraid too much color will clash, so then I wonder if I shouldn't just leave the walls white and forget the accent wall. Any advice from the Apartment Therapy readers?
