We had a short discussion with a couple of friends last night over a few drinks. One of the topics that stuck with us is our heavy reliance on technology and the Internet, which becomes most apparent during the most chaotic times. So, we ask: Hypothetically speaking or based on past experience, what's the first thing you plug in after a home remodel is all set and done?
At some point another, we confessed our addictions to home tech during a remodeling process. Half of us swore we'd still have the Tivo plugged in if we could during the remodeling process, if not in the same room, we'd place it in our garage or something just to make sure we got our shows.
For me, I admitted my heavy Internet addiction - the "must know" compulsion runs heavy in my blood. Hence, the first thing I would plug in would probably be my desktop computer. While I could sacrifice a week or two living my daily cyber life off a laptop, nothing beats having two monitors and an endless stream of news, entertainment, and inspiration zippin' at a million words per minute straight into my noggin'.

I just did a major remodel and the first thing I plugged in was a lamp, followed by my mac.
wireless router..
When my gf and I moved, the first thing we plugged in in the new place was the coffee pot... then the imac
TV Tivo is always first on my list. Then I can just watch my saved TV shows while I clean/unplack/whatever.
When moving recently, the first thing set up was the desks, the first thing unpacked was the boy and my computers, and they were the first thing plugged in.
