As in years past, we've taken Father's Day week to look at modern dads: by all accounts super involved types who take the role of fathering seriously. Kudos to that! Yet recent reports of the rise in women as majority breadwinners have spawned a flood of editorials and television pundits questioning whether we even need a father in the home anymore. What is the role of the father in your household, is there a father, and do your roles differ from those of your parents?
We'd wager the Apartment Therapy community is both varied and progressive in this respect. We'd love to hear more about your family. Is it a modern scenario, or more traditional? Who is the primary caregiver? Who makes more money, and does that change the dynamic? Is there equality in the home, or more of a hierarchy? Who does the cooking? Cleaning? Who takes the kids to school and doctor's appointments? Who tends to emotional and physical wounds? Who tucks the children into bed at night?
Your stories, please.
